FDU Football Beaten By Susquehanna 26-16

MADISON, NJ -- The FDU-Madison Devils scored the first touchdown of the game when running back Ed Cracchiolo (Marlboro, NJ) scored on a 72 yard run to put FDU up 6-3, but the Devils were held scoreless until the fourth quarter. The Susquehanna Crusaders came out on top, 26-16.With the score 19-8 in Susquehanna's favor and a little over a minute left to play in the third quarter a crucial play for FDU took place. Devils' quarterback Brad Bishop's (Perth Amboy, NJ) pass from the Susquehanna 46-yardline was caught by Tim Carlock (Burlington, NJ) at the Susquehanna two-yardline, but the play was called back and offensive pass interference was called on FDU, sending the Devils back to their own 39-yardline and negating the 44 yard gain that would have put the Devils in a position to score and make the game 19-15. On the second play of Susquehanna's ensuing drive,quarterback MikeBowman's pass was hauled in by Mark Bartosic for a 76-yard touchdown, making the score 26-8.The Devils came back with 11:04 left in the fourth quarter as FDUquarterback Mark Pollifrone (Manalapan, NJ) connected on a 28-yardtouchdown pass to Cracchiolo. On the point-after attempt, FDU ran a fake play and Mike Quigley (Manalapan, NJ) , the Devils holder, hit Keith O'Hara (Hackettstown, NJ) with a pass for two points. Quigley ran in a two-point conversion on the first touchdown after a bad snap when FDU was set up to kick the extra point. Susquehannah scored 23 straight points as FDU was held scoreless in the middle two quarters. On the day, the Crusaders scored three touchdowns and made two field goals.FDU outgained Susquehanna 362 to 307 on total net yards. FDU also beat Susquehanna on time of possession, 32:45 to 27:15. FDU had 15 first downs to Susquehanna's 16. Penalties really hurt the Devils as they rallied nine for 117 yards to Susquehanna's 8 for 61 yards.Cracchiolo led all rushers with 113 total yards on 10 carries and healso added 28 yards receiving. He scored both touchdowns for the Devils,one rushing and one receiving.Aaron Manus (Hightstown, NJ) ran for 61 yards on nine attempts.Quigley led FDU in receiving with four catches for 53 yards.Pollifrone was 9-for-17 with 100 yards passing and one passing TD. Bishop was 4-fo-10 passing with 36 yards passing.Tom Pouliot (Hillsborough, NJ) made 11 tackles to lead FDU. Nine of those were solo hits, which was a game-high. Justin Zaleski (Manalapan, NJ) made six solo tackles and one assist.For the Crusaders, Bowman threw for 238 yards on 16-for-36 passing. His36 attempts is a career-high. Bartosic caught five passes for 118 yards. Isaac Hernandez led Susquehanna with 36 yards rushing.Troy Sosnovik led Susquehanna with 11 tackles (five solo) while Mike DiNorscia made seven solo hits and one assist.The Devils will take on the Widener Pioneers next Saturday in Chester, PA for a 1:00 game.
