FDU-MADISON FOOTBALL BEATEN BY LYCOMING, 34-12

Williamsport, PA - The FDU-Madison Devils were beaten 34-12 by the Lycoming Warriors. FDU drops to 1-9 on the year and 0-4 in the Freedom Conference while Lycoming clinches the Freedom Conference championship, improving to 7-2 overall and 4-0 in the Freedom.

The Devils trailed by just nine points with 1:44 left in the game when Jon Neve sealed the victory for Lycoming by plowing into the endzone for a 22-yard touchdown to make the score 27-12. After getting the ball back on an interception, Lycoming scored again on a 2-yard run by Mike Selvinis. John Shaffer made the extra point to put the Warriors up 34-12.

The Devils made it a game with 11:03 left in the third quarter as Tim Carlock (Burlington, NJ) scored on a 57-yard pass from Brad Bishop (Perth Amboy, NJ). FDU couldn't convert on the two-point attempt, and the score stood at 21-12. It stayed that way until Neve's TD with 1:44 left in the game.

In a scene resembling professional wrestling, FDU trailed early as the Warriors scored on the first play of the game. After the Devils kicked off, Joe Hanna reeled in a 77-yard pass from Joe Feerar to put the Warriors up 6-0, despite a flagrant offensive pass interference "no-call" on the Warriors. FDU's officiating woes continued on the second drive when they were flagged for a very questionable pass interference call in the endzone, after having stopped Lycoming on fourth and goal. Lyco's Tim Deasey made FDU pay for the official's gaffe, running in a two yard score to put the Devils in a 14-0 hole early.

FDU came back to cut Lycoming's lead to 14-6 when Gene Kline (Somerville, NJ) recovered a fumble and ran it 52 yards for a touchdown with 6:23 remaining in the first quarter. Eric Eickhorst (South Bound Brook, NJ) sacked Feerar at the FDU 48, forcing the fumble.

Sophomore Ed Cracchiolo (Marlboro, NJ) ran for 125 yards today, bringing his season total to 864 yards, which marks the second-best single-season rushing total in FDU history. His career total of 1,243 yards ranks fifth all-time for the Devils. He also made two catches today, good for 19 yards.

Senior middle linebacker Tom Pouliot (Hillsborough, NJ) finished his career as the most prolific tackler in FDU history, increasing his school record for stops to 443. His 127 tackles this season ranks as the second at FDU only to Pouliot's 159 tackles in 1998. He made 13 solo stops today.

On the day, Bishop threw for 116 yards, completing seven passes in 19 tries. He was intercepted three times and ran for 39 yards. Carlock had two receptions for 57 yards. Keith O'Hara (Hackettstown, NJ) made two grabs for 26 yards.

Kevin Williams (Edison, NJ) broke up four passes. Jose Sanchez (Egg Harbor City, NJ) made seven solo tackles for FDU. Ken Freeman (Carteret, NJ) made four.
